A Zagat-style Guide for Young New Yorkers

The idea was the brainchild of computer teacher Sébastien Freland and Primary teachers Patrick Charles, Marianne Arribat and Lana Katrangi, who wanted to create a fun project that gave the students the chance to put their writing, critical thinking and creativity to work in a digital platform.

Using a questionnaire, the teachers created basic guideposts to help the students identify and review their favorite places. Students picked restaurants, shops, parks, museums, and described what they liked and didn’t like about them. They wrote up their opinions, took pictures and in some cases drew illustrations, too.

A must-read to get  fresh perspectives on young people’s haunts across Manhattan, from the best restaurant in Chinatown to ice skating at Wollman Rink (owned by Donald Trump), to where to get the best burger and ice cream, and even the best hands-on science exhibits… Here are a few highlights:

So far, this French-language e-book is available on the Apple iBook store and for iPad only. Simply download the iBook app on your iPad, search “LFNY,” and the book is free.

Versions for other platforms are under consideration, but we need at least 500 downloads to make that possible, so download away!
