Students then had to create, edit video advertisements for those products, either inventing or picking one that already exists. the idea was really for them to identify the characteristics and specificities -geographical, natural and cultural- of the regions they were working on.
On the day of the exhibition, Mrs. Kaminska (School Life coordinator) and Mr. Rognon (Communications Department) were present to give their feedback and their insight, which were really appreciated. Mr. Rognon, given his expertise, was also able to give advice and constructive critique to the students who were responsive and very appreciative.

Au cours de ce projet, nous avons pu apprendre, découvrir et expérimenter de nombreuses choses. D’une part, étant un travail de groupe, nous avons dû nous organiser, afin que chacun d’entre nous s’occupe de quelque chose, et que nous ne perdions pas de temps. Nous avons ainsi dû coopérer, communiquer, s’écouter, s’exprimer… Cela est, je pense, la partie la plus importante du projet. D’autre part, nous avons découvert de nombreux aspects tant culturels que historiques sur notre région, et de manière plus générale, sur l’Espagne. Nous avons ainsi découvert la culture que ce soit sur le point gastronomique, artistique ou touristique. Enfin, nous avons essayé au mieux de réaliser cette publicité de la manière la plus professionnelle possible, nous apprenant ainsi à utiliser les techniques de publicité.

Les difficultés que l’on a rencontrées est le fait de trouver du temps pour pouvoir travailler ensemble et pour s’enregistrer. On as aussi eu des difficultés sur la production de la vidéo car si une personne commence à faire le montage il est obligé de le finir. On a eu des difficultés à trouver des vidéos de bonne qualité pour notre projet. Ce qui as été le plus difficile est le fait de se mettre au travail car comme on est un gros groupe on était plutôt désorganisé.
This project, that lasted 10 sessions, truly allowed the students to grasp the Spanish cultural diversity, considering the 17 autonomous provinces that compose the country. They also developed their capacities to cooperate and to use technology, having to find usable content online, record their voices and edit the videos for their advertisements. It was also very interesting for the teachers to show the students that doors between level groups are open.

Vaitea Grand was raised in French Polynesia in a multilingual environment. He went to college in Toulouse, France and completed his master’s degree in Iberian Studies at the French institute of Madrid. He then passed the French National Education competitive exams, and taught Spanish in high school, middle school, as well as Spanish literature at the Université Paris 3 – Sorbonne-Nouvelle. In 2013, Vaitea joined the Awty International School of Houston where he taught Spanish and French and also became certified as a soccer coach. He joined the Lycée in 2016 as a Spanish teacher, head of the World Languages Department and he is now coaching the Varsity boys soccer team.
