Lynx basketball got off to a flying start in 2017! The Lycée welcomed FASNY on Friday, January 6, and whether for the Varsity Girls team or Varsity Boys Teams, the Lynx play can only be described in one word: domination.
From the first minutes of play, LFNY Varsity Girls set the tone. They dominated the court in offense and defense, taking an honorable 8-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Sharks got their groove back, but not enough to take the lead. Indeed, there was fish on the menu at the Lycée on Friday– a telltale sign… By halftime, the Lynx were in the lead, 18-8.
After the break, the FASNY Girls Team seemed back on track. The Sharks team had sharpened, with noticeably stronger teamwork over all. It was not enough. The Lynx kept the lead: 26-14.
Fatigue showed itself in the fourth quarter, especially on the Lynx. The Sharks began to close the lead. It was too late. The gap was too wide. Final score: 35-27!
The LFNY Boys team kept the tone, decidedly on the attack as the Varsity Boys game started. They did not hold back! The first quarter ended: 21-6 in favor of the Lynx.
Want to take a breather? You’ll have to wait… Our Lynx kept their energy up and the lead, in front of an energetic crowd of Lycéens who came to cheer them on. End of the first half: 36-12.
After the break, the crowd had scattered a bit, perhaps knowing the dice had been cast. The gap in the score narrowed some, but by only a hair. By the end of the third quarter, victory was certain: 45-23 Lynx.
In the final stretch, fatigue had hit both teams, but the Lynx lead was solidified. Final score: 51-28 for the Lynx!
Bravo to our Varsity Boys and Girls Teams for so beautifully representing the colors of the LFNY, and always with great team spirit!
