We are incredibly honored to host the latest concert for the musician BélO on March 20th. BélO is a Haitian artist and star, and is celebrated as musical ambassador of Haiti throughout the world. The songwriter, guitarist and singer has won numerous awards, notably the Radio France Ineternational Discovery Award in 2006. His musical style, called Ragganga, is mixture of Reggae, Jazz, Rock, Worldbeat and “Rara”, the traditional rhythms of Haiti.
BélO will perform the song Lakou Trankil in French with our sixth grade students, who have been practicing under the direction of Mr. Loumbrozo. (click to watch a video of Lakou Trankil):

Another high point of the evening: BélO will be debuting his new single for the first time in New York at the Lycée.
March 20th is the International Day of Francophonie. This concert is part of the official program of the International Organization of La Francophonie, thanks to Mr. Filippe Savadogo, permanent representative of the International Organization of La Francophonie in New York, and Lycée parent.

The Lycée Français de New York wants to share this special moment with the Haitian community. We have the distinct honor of inviting two teachers, Alexandra René and Samentha Télémarque, from our sister school in Haiti, Lycée Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable, who will be in New York at the time. The Lycée is also offering 50 seats to the French Heritage Language Program; these seats will be given to the winner of the Aimé Césaire concert, put on by French Heritage. The young winners may come with their families.
We look forward to seeing all of you there with your family and friends!
Please reserve your seat by calling (212) 439-3820.
Tickets are $35 for adults and free for students.
