Welcome to APL’s New Co-Presidents

“Our mission is to lend an ear to the Lycée’s 900 families and to make sure that information gets shared with the administration and vice versa,” explains Cheryl, whose two daughters, now in eighth grade and twelfth grade, have been at the Lycée since 2002. Participation in LFNY life is not new for this Scot married to a Frenchman. She has served as APL vice president for the Lycée’s Preschool, Primary, and Middle Schools.

Saskia Keeley, a native of Switzerland, began volunteering her time in earnest at the Lycée in 2007.  The school has benefited from her considerable expertise as a professional photographer on numerous occasions, most significantly in the school’s development publications. Her two sons have both spent their entire school careers at the LFNY.

“My eldest son passed the BFA (Franco-American Baccalaureate) in the spring and is now starting his first year at Duke. That experience as parent from maternelle all the way through terminale has given me a sense of the entirety of an education at the Lycée and especially at the high-school level,” she emphasizes.

The two new Co-Chairs will lead a team of 18 APL Executive Committee volunteers entrusted with making sure the organization runs smoothly. A warm welcome to them!

Volunteer to be a parent delegate!

We still need more Parent Delegates in all school levels, if you are interested in becoming a delegate, it is still possible to volunteer. This is an important role that facilitates communication between the school and parents in each class. The APL will be accepting applications until this Monday, September 16th. Please visit the APL section on the LFNY portal (you will need your login and password) for more details, and general information about the APL.

We’ll also see you at this Tuesday’s first APL General Meeting of the year!
