During the Middle School Gymnastics Competition on April 23, 2013.

With the weather changing, our Spring athletic teams are off to a great start. We have seen a number of runners on our Middle School and Varsity track teams have outstanding performances in the meets that they have competed in. They have had track meets at Van Cortland Park (see photos), Red Hook and Icahn Stadium at Randall’s Island.  With their strong performances the season looks bright for the track teams. Not to be outdone, the Varsity Boys and Girls tennis teams open up their season with wins at the National Tennis Center. The boys knocked off LREI and the girls beat Churchill. Our middle school tennis team was in the middle of their season opener and the rains came. We hope the weather is better the next time they play.

The Middle School Girl’s gymnastic team have been practicing since early October. They open up their season in mid-April with a strong meet against The Chapin School and followed with another great performance against St. Ann’s. This year the middle school gymnastics championship will be held at The Lycée on May 3rd.

Varsity Boys’ volleyball has seen the number of participants grow the last few years. The team has shown improvement so far this season and they look to continue this over the final part of their season.

Our rugby program keeps on growing. We have three Boys’ teams and one Girl’s club team. There are seventy students playing rugby this spring. The middle school 7/8 grade team open up their season losing to Ridge from New Jersey. They bounced back with a win over Morris and they seem to be hitting their stride. The Girls’ team had their first scrimmage of the season and performed well.

Finally our varsity team open their season against Fordham Prep. Both teams were evenly matched. The match went back and forth with Fordham pulling away at the end. After a few week of practice the team was ready to take on FASNY. From the start we knew that this match was going to be a good one. FASNY had a 10 – 0 lead at half time. The Lycée was able to make adjustments at half time and come out and show our friends from FASNY that we were ready to play. We were able to outscore them 20 – 0 in the second half and win the match 20 – 10.

Go #LFNY!
