Watch the highlights of the 2012 Winter Concert

Another Winter Concert…yet this one was so different from those of previous years. More than 150 performers took to the stage on Monday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 5 with record-breaking participation in nearly all groups, and particularly so in our three choruses, school band and orchestra. It was a gathering of multitudinous talents, which, like the pieces of a giant jigsaw puzzle, are carefully studied and placed to create a beautiful canvas of music. It is one that only takes shape in the few days before the first performance. As Stephen Sondheim so eloquently evoked in his compilation show, “Putting it Together…,” the musical revue is the ultimate challenge for all performers!

This concert marked the first public appearance at the Lycée of our new voice teacher and choral director for the primary school, Anne-Julia Audray. A seasoned opera singer with worldwide experience, she is a most valuable addition to the Music Department. Members of the Musical Theater Workshop invited us into a world of fairy tales with a careful selection songs from Broadway’s mainstream repertoire. To top it off, the big finale brought students from 1st to 12th grade and more than 20 adults on stage for a special moment of warmth, humanity and musical communion. Happiness on the faces of our performers and audience is our greatest reward! Many thanks to all.

More than 300 viewers from close to 20 countries around the world watched the 2012 Winter Concert on our website. Thanks for virtually joining us for the annual celebration of music and singing!
